Is this really cruel or is it only this professor perception?

I think it depends on how the professor looks at things. In my opinion the couple represent all the little things we overlook or don’t want to see when we are in love (but will drive us completely up the wall with time). You know, something like looking through pink glasses but in the form of a head covering cloth.
Which I guess may be perceived as cruel too.
